Bruxism

The term bruxism refers to excessive teeth grinding, which can happen both during the day and at nightime, as a consequence of jaw clenching. Often, the jaw moves involuntarily, exerting pressure on the teeth and often causing sever health issues.

Bruxism usually results in facial muscular pain, and can cause pain, damage or mobility in the teeth. Furthermore, it can result in the wearing of the bone which anchors the tooth, resulting in issues such as temporomandibular disorder.

When we feel pain in the facial area, teeth, head and neck areas when waking up, it is very likely caused by bruxism. Other common symptoms are:

  • Tooth sensitivity when exposed to hot, cold or sweet foods.
  • Recurring earache.
  • Muscular tensión in the back.
  • High levels of anxiety and stress. (Return).
